Fuel for Battle

You know that you have to eat right to fuel your body if you are going to run a race or do an obstacle course. In the same way, you must eat healthy when you're fighting spiritual battles. These battles can be extremely stressful, so be sure to make good choices about the foods you feed your body.

For a couple of months now I've been staying away from sugar and not eating wheat. I can't believe the difference it makes! I have more energy. I just feel so much better. Even my balance is better!

Life today seems like one battle after another. Fuel up for winning. Get creative in taking care of yourself. Ask God to show you and make available to you exactly what you and your family need, and He will.

Hi, I decided to google "Christians with Parkinson's Disease" today and here you are! I am also a Christian with this particular weakness, thorn, cross, or perhaps it is just a temporary trial to teach me perseverance, like James talks about. Only God knows, only time will tell, and I am trusting Him to do his perfect will in me.
I love your paintings, they inspire me to paint more. I'm interested in your no sugar and wheat experiment. How long did it take for you to notice a difference? I love sweets.... but I need to try it.
I'm glad to find your blog.

Hi Laura! I'm so happy to hear from you. If I may ask, how old are you and when were you diagnosed?
As to the diet, I was totally addicted to sugar and thought i could never live without it. Right away when I stopped sugar, my pain lessened a great deal. Then I cut out wheat. The first day there was even alot more freedom from pain. It almost scares me now to think of eating it. Also my balance is better, I have more energy and don't get that super fatigued feeling, and I can stay on my feet and walk a reasonably long time.
I'm writing a book here so I had better stop! Google pain with wheat............

I am 45 and was diagnosed in 2005 when I was 39.
I recognized the symptoms right away because my mom had PD from the time I was 9 years old.
I guess you could say that I'm addicted to sugar (although I'd rather not!). I am very interested in nutrition and don't use a lot of white flour or white sugar, but I do like to bake muffins, scones, pancakes, desserts... I can't imagine giving up wheat! Sounds crazy not to though if it might help me feel better. Do you use honey or maple syrup for sweetening? Do you limit fruit and juice?
Thank you for responding. What's your story? My blog is lauradavan.blogspot.com
